Organisers are getting ready to ensure the second day dedicated to the memory of Barrow-born Hairy Biker Dave Myers eclipses the first.
The countdown is on to the event later this month with Dave Day expanding to span the weekend of June 21 and June 22.
A second ride-out in honour of the biking legend will take place on Saturday June 21. Last year an estimated 46,000 motorcyclists, including Dave’s Hairy Bikers co-star Si King and Dave’s wife Lili, completed a ride from north London to Barrow.
Riders will leave Ace Café in London and travel north via the M6 toll who will be offering the bikers free passage and to minimise the impact on customers will open all lanes free of charge for the duration of the bike cavalcade. The ride has been supported by Robert James Law.
In Barrow, a concert featuring Thin Lizzy tribute band Darren Wharton’s Renegade will entertain before Europe’s leading and longest running AC/DC tribute band Hells Bells top the bill.
On Sunday June 22, free activities in Barrow town centre include the On the Edge motorbike stunt show, a food and drink festival and a motorcycle exhibition organised by Barrow BID.
There will also be a health and wellbeing event in Barrow Park and a Dave Myers Exhibition at the Dock Museum and a celebration dinner with Si King and Lili Myers.

A charity football match with North West Community Stars will be held at Barrow AFC where a team of former professional players including Liverpool and England star Rickie Lambert and former Blackburn Rovers and Scotland’s legend Colin Hendry will take on the Dave Day bikers and sponsors under the management of Tony Hesketh the current director of football at Fulwood Amateurs.
The match is sponsored by Amber Taverns and Barrow’s Kings pub which is the home to the mural of Dave Myers created by artist Shawn Sharpe and has been used to promote Dave Day. Amber Taverns is also sponsoring entertainment on the Main Stage in Barrow town centre on Sunday evening.
All participants registering for the motorcycle ride have been asked to bring non-perishable food items as donations for Barrow Food Bank, ensuring the event’s positive impact extends beyond fundraising to addressing immediate community needs.
Amber Taverns has been granted permission to extend the Dave Day Food Bank Appeal across all its pubs.
With raffles and giveaways from all the well-known motorbike brands already taking place on the Dave Day website page, the weekend culminates with the announcement of the winner of the raffle for a one-off custom Dave Day Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, which can be won via a £10 raffle ticket, donated by Orientation Marketing based in Cheshire.

“I lost Dave to cancer and the statistics are dire, telling us that one in two people will be affected by derivatives of this illness in the following years,” Lili said.
“As a community we can support institutions that work towards finding a cure and organisations that help families going through tough times dealing with cancer. That’s why this year we chose to work with Cancer Care Northwest alongside with Childline that Dave and I supported for many many years.
“For Dave Day 2025 weekend, we encourage people to help raise awareness and to donate if they can afford to.
“I have to thank all our sponsors, particularly our main sponsor Robert James Solicitors and North West Community Stars Football Club we have been working closely with. It is with sponsors like this that help us make the day such a success.”
