A Forest School experience is on offer for youngsters this summer at a Carlisle school.

The three-day experience at Austin Friars runs from Monday August 18 to Wednesday August 20 and is open to all children from all schools joining Year 6 in September.

Children taking part in the forest school can look forward to a range of engaging and fun educational sessions, and organisers said it was created for children who love spending time outdoors.

Led by the children and unique to the individual, activities could include:

  • Knots and shelter building
  • Fire lighting/campfire cooking
  • Mini beast hunts and natural identification skills
  • Woodland games
  • Craft activities
  • Obstacle courses
  • Tool use: Sheath knife, billhook, hand axe, bowsaw

Event schedule

Each day will begin at 9am and finish at 3pm, with a lunch break around noon. Lunch will not be provided.

Children will need to bring a waterproof coat and appropriate footwear.

How much is the Forest School Experience?

The Forest School Experience is £130 for three days.

It is open to pupils from all schools, but places are limited.
