An LS Lowry drawing is expected to sell for £30,000 to £50,000 at the next Mitchells Antiques & Fine Art Sale.

The sale, which runs from June 25 to June 27, also includes artworks by Percy Kelly and a rare life-sized cast of cricketer WG Grace’s hand among over 1,500 lots of vintage and antique furnishings and fine art.

The most valuable lot in the sale with an estimate of £30,000 to £50,000 is a pencil drawing by LS Lowry RBA RA (1887-1976) depicting Jane Pit in Workington, signed and dated 1969 and measuring 25cm x 34 cm.

The drawing was previously owned by Sir Frederick Gibberd CBE RA and was sold at Christies in 2001 and also Castlegate Gallery Cockermouth.

The drawing was exhibited at Lefevre Gallery in London in 1968.

Also for sale are a 1960 watercolour and charcoal artwork by Percy Kelly (1918-1993) depicting boats in Workington harbour and the Queen’s Head Pub and another Kelly watercolour depicting Maryport Harbour and houses, both with estimates of £3,000 to £5,000.

Other highlights in a strong picture section are an oil on paper by Julian Cooper (born 1947), Ambleside Interior, measuring 146cm x 208cm, signed and dated 1993 is expected to sell for £2,500 to £3,500.

An oil on canvas by Scottish artist Alan Davie CBE HSRW RA (1920-2014), To have bitter parting at high noon, dated 2007 and measuring 96cm x 76cm has an estimate of £2,000 to £3,000.

Also for sale is an oil on canvas, Party Picnicing, after Jean Baptiste Peter (French 1695-1736), also after Watteau, measuring 118cm x 104cm with an estimate of £500 to £800. An acrylic still life, A Little Wine by Tim Gustard (born 1984) depicting a glass of wine and cheese is expected to sell for £700 to £1,000.

Of cricketing interest is a bronze over plaster life-sized cast of WG Grace’s hand holding a cricket ball with his signature to the stump.

The cast is believed to have originally been made for the famous cricketer’s 41st birthday in 1889.

It previously belonged to his friend Mr Gabb who lent it to the Marylebone Cricket Club until the 1980s. The lot is expected to sell for £1,500 to £2,500.

Other sale highlights include among the furniture a 19th century continental secretaire abbatant in walnut and other specimen woods, height 164cm, width 99cm and depth 46cm which is expected to sell for £300 to £500.
