Shoppers in West Cumbria are getting a first look inside the new Peter Tyson store, before it opens its doors this weekend with a host of special launch offers and giveaways for customers.

The 5,000 sq ft showroom near Distington marks a bold new chapter for the much-loved Cumbrian electrical retailer.

And there are loads of great offers to tempt customers inside when it opens this Saturday, July 5, at 9am.

The first 100 customers who spend over £100 in the new store can claim a pair of JBL earbuds worth £89 and Peter Tyson is also giving away a prize worth more than £2,000.

That’s on top of multiple offers for appliances from leading brands including a Samsung 75in Neo QLED 4K Smart TV for £1,499 (RRP £4,229), a Hisense 55″ 4K QLED Smart TV for just £299 (RRP £759), a Shark Pet Pro Vacuum for £199 (£299), and an LG 8kg washing machine for £290 (£479) plus many more.

After 11 successful years at its Finkle Street location, the company is relocating to a larger, purpose-renovated showroom on Winscales Avenue, on the Lillyhall estate.

The new site, the former Central4 cars showroom, has been extensively refurbished to deliver one of the smartest appliance showrooms in the UK.

Managing director Paul Tyson said: “We’ve made a major investment in this new site and we’re incredibly proud of the result.

“This new store reflects everything people love about Peter Tyson – great prices, trusted brands, expert service, and free local delivery – but with even more space, more stock, and more to experience.

“We’ve had a relatively small presence in the area for a number of years so we saw this as a great opportunity to expand.

“We believe that people deserve a greater choice of some of the biggest brands in the UK and a better environment to see them in.

“The shopping experience the new store will offer is unbeatable in West Cumbria.

“Peter Tyson is known for TV and audio, but we also do appliances, and the new store will stock many different ranges.

“And of course we are good value. We price-match and offer finance deals and free local delivery.

“We will be open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday and there’s ample free parking.

“We look forward to welcoming customers old and new from July 5.”

Peter Tyson, which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2026, is one of the UK’s largest independent retailers online and also operates stores in Carlisle and Newcastle, employing 70 staff across its locations.
