Stagecoach's 61 service

A public meeting will be held this weekend about bus services in Carlisle and the surrounding area.

Organised by city MP Julie Minns, the community meeting will give people the chance to talk to the Cumbria and North Lancashire MD of travel firm Stagecoach, Tom Waterhouse.

It will be held on Saturday, July 12, and Mrs Minns said she had organised it as since her election, people had regularly been in touch with her about issues with their local bus services.

People can ask anything from bus timetables and reliability, to accessibility and service coverage.

Denise Rollo, Cumberland Council’s executive member for sustainable, resilient and connected places, will also be in attendance to speak about the work the authority is doing.

Mrs Minns said: “I have heard from many residents about their concerns with local bus services who rely on them to get to work and to attend appointments.

“This meeting is a chance for local people to speak directly to Stagecoach and Cumberland Council about what is working and what urgently needs to change. I hope as many people as possible can attend and have their voices heard.”

It will take place from 1pm to 2pm and people need to register to attend.

The venue will be shared with the people who have their place confirmed.
