Over £1,200 has been raised in memory of a woman for Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
Margaret MacDonald was a member of the hospice’s Cockermouth bereavement support group and her fellow members raised £400 in her honour.
Margaret’s daughter also received a contribution of £447.50 from her employer, TK Maxx and a collection was carried out at her funeral.
The group is run by dedicated Hospice at Home West Cumbria volunteers and is a space for people to come together each week through shared loss and receive mutual support.
The donation, raised to honour and remember a valued member of their group, will directly support other patients diagnosed with a palliative illness and their families living in West Cumbria.
Claire Jenkinson, family and bereavement services team leader, said: “This touching tribute is a reminder of the compassion, resilience and community spirit that grows within in our bereavement groups.
“We are so grateful for the generosity shown by each member. Their kindness ensures that other patients and their families will benefit from the services we provide in the local community.”
