
It was an historic moment at West Allotment Celtic when the final whistle sounded on Friday.
Carlisle City had hit the top of the Northern League First Division following their 3-1 victory.
It was a memorable moment even though admittedly very early in the season.
After four games it gave City a second successive victory to go with their two draws which opened the season.
It’s an unbeaten record and the only blemish was sandwiched in between – a defeat at Marske in the FA Cup, ironically against a side who have only one League point and lie next to bottom.
Dan Kirkup’s side had to come from behind, too, to register their table-topping win.
Alfa Djalo had put Celtic ahead after 23 minutes.
Kirkup was able to adjust his half-time thoughts after Callum Birdsall grabbed the equaliser five minutes before the break.
Jordan Palmer edged the Cumbrians ahead with his goal on 71 minutes and five minutes later Keighran Kerr netted to give City more breathing space.
