The West Cumberland Sunday League has fitted in some midweek fixtures at the start of a new season.

Former champions Northside, who lost out to Deer Orchard last season, have opened with two victories,

The second came last night with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Dearham Commercial.

Tommy Whitehead followed up his opening day hat-trick by scoring both goals, while Brandon Brown netted for Dearham.

Lowca Pirates had beaten Dearham 5-1 on Sunday but last night they came unstuck at Moresby Rangers, going down 5-2.

Ellis Trotter (2), James Bell (2) and Lucas Craig scored the Moresby goals with Callum Wilson and Nicky McAllister hitting the back of the rigging for the Pirates.

The other games were in Division One and produced plenty of goals.

Zebras hit six without reply against the Royal Oak as Brandon Birks (3), Regan Tinnion, Ellis Graham and Connor Askew found the net.

Workington Falcons also hit six against Senhouse Street Club but did concede three themselves.

Arley Fen (3), Dylan Bragg (2) and Declan Moore were the scorers for Falcons.

Newcomers Mirehouse recorded their first win when they beat King’s Arms 5-3.

Ryan Smith (2), Ryan Taylor, Jayden Denunzio and Ethan Smith were the scorers for Mirehouse.

Closest game saw Maryport Athletic win 4-3 at the Swan.

Lewis Mattinson was another hat-trick hero on the night with veteran Steven Stoddart also on target for Maryport.

For Swan the goals were scored by Joe Humes, Jay Dempsey and Andrew Leech.
