A unique community event is coming to Carlisle this autumn, offering a powerful message of hope, recovery, and resilience for those living with trauma – and those walking alongside them.
Speakers from around the country will be presenting their inspirational stories of recovery at the Resilience Gathering on October 16 at the city’s Halston hotel.
It will bring together veterans, first responders, families, supporters, and community members for a day dedicated to hope, healing, and human connection.
The Gathering has been founded by an ex-paratrooper and firefighter Andy Steele, who has lived with PTSD and made it through to recovery.
His mission is to break the silence, share stories of resilience, and show that healing is possible.
He said: “When I was at my lowest, all I could see were statistics – 21 veterans a day lost to suicide. What I didn’t see were the people who were getting well.
“This gathering is my way of changing that. It’s about lifting the silence and bringing real stories of resilience into the light.”
The event, organised by iCan Wellbeing CIC, is open to all – veterans, first responders, families, friends, and anyone who cares about mental health and wellbeing.
Tickets are £10 and include refreshments and lunch and are available from https://www.trybooking.com/uk/82997
