Windscale continued their improved run of form with a third consecutive away win in the Wearside League.
They travelled to take on Shotton Colliery at their Ford Sports Club Ground and came home with a 5-0 victory.
The tone of the game was set early with the Shotton management team’s indifferent behaviour, particularly towards the female match official.
The Atoms were in total control throughout the whole 90 minutes.
Shotton’s case was not helped when Bradley Beeston was sent to the sin bin in the first period, his approach a mirror of his management team.
The opening goal came courtesy of Rob Davidson on the half hour mark.
Chasing down what appeared to be a lost cause, Davidson won the ball and after evading challenges from two defenders, rounded Shotton keeper Tom Morrison to plant the ball into the net.
The visitors 1-0 lead at the break should have been greater having wasted several clear cut goal scoring opportunities, with Harry Hodgson and Jayden Fulton unable to find the net.
Windscale exerted total control in the second half adding a further four goals to their tally.
However, Levi McAdam in earning his first clean sheet for the Atoms, had to make a couple of important saves with the score at 1-0 and 2-0.
Ray Sempill had doubled the Atoms lead in the 55th minute, finding space in the Shotton six-yard box before nodding the ball home from a well delivered Fulton corner kick.
The result was virtually assured with 10 minutes to go.
Poor marking at another corner kick and a failure to clear the danger found the ball at Andrew Begbie’s feet and he had the simple task of tapping it home.
Travis Fyfe notched his first goal for Windscale to make it 4-0.
Man of the Match Reece Fretwell clipped a well-judged pass to Ben Mahaffy who ran forward creating a one on one with Morrison.
He then unselfishly squared the ball to provide the supporting Fyfe with a simple conversion.
Mahaffy completed the scoring notching the Atoms fifth just prior to the final whistle.
A long goal kick from McAdam was headed on by Fretwell beyond the Shotton rear-guard. Mahaffy drew Morrison from his goal and then fired the ball beyond him into the net.
The result moves Windscale up to 7th in the table, a vast improvement from their earlier results which saw them floundering near the bottom.
They have another tough task on Wednesday when they complete their busy schedule of three away fixtures, travelling to take on Brandon.
