Flood warnings and alerts in Cumbria after heavy rain

Flood warnings and alerts remain in place for Cumbria after heavy rain fell in the county yesterday and overnight.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning until 6am yesterday, Sunday September 21.

Several flood warnings and alerts have been removed this morning, but are still in force for some areas.

Flood warnings

Flood warnings – meaning act now, flooding is expected – have been issued for:

  • Keswick Campsite
  • River Eden at Carlisle, Rickerby Park, Swifts and Stoneyholme Golf Courses
  • River Eden at Warwick Holmes

Flood alerts

Flood alerts – meaning flooding is possible – have been issued for:

  • Lower River Eden
  • Rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster
  • Upper River Aire catchment
  • Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwentwater

Flood alerts removed

  • Middle River Eden
  • Rivers Caldew and Petteril
  • Rivers Cocker, Marron and Derwent
  • Rivers Esk and Irthing
  • Rivers Duddon, Crake and Mill Beck
  • Rivers Ehen, Calder, Irt and Esk
  • Rivers Greta, St John’s Beck and Bassenthwaite Lake
  • Rivers Kent and Bela
  • Rivers Lowther and Eamont
  • River South Tyne
  • Rivers Wampool and Ellen
  • Upper River Swale
  • Upper River Ure
  • Upper River Eden
  • Upper River Wharfe
