Armed police were deployed after reports of two people with a knife in Workington.
Two arrests have been made following the incident on Windsor Road, overnight on October 5.
Police were called at around 11pm with reports the two people, carrying a knife, had broken into a home.
No injuries were caused but threats were made.
Cumbria police said a police response was immediately launched following the report and two people – a man and a woman both in their 20s – were subsequently arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary. They remain in custody.
Firearms officers were deployed as part of the response.
Cumbria police said: “There is no wider risk to the public and police would like to thank the local community who were affected for their patience and understanding in allowing us to safely resolve the incident.”
Two people are due to appear in court later on today, Monday October 6.
