Plans have been lodged to rebuild Kirkby Lonsdale’s Market Hall, which was destroyed in a fire.
A man died in the devastating blaze in the town centre in the early hours of December 8 last year.
Ben Taylor, 45, owner of GR and RD Taylor General Store and Army Surplus on Market Street, was discovered by emergency services.
The fire directly impacted more than 100 residential properties and 84 business properties in the area.
This month, Messrs Taylor, Taylor, Robinson & Baines, have applied to Westmorland and Furness Council to rebuild 13-15 Market Street and the rear extension to the Market Hall while reinstating the main Market Hall.
It said: “The rebuilding of 13-15 Market Street will create public benefit by reinstating the continuation of the terrace which forms the High Street.
“The building will be constructed in an architectural style to match the former building. The rebuilding of the former rear extension to the Market Hall will see the erection of a modern building constructed using traditional materials.
The consultation period for the proposal is set to end on November 13.
