Holders Carlisle City are the first team through to the third round of the Fred Conway County Cup.

The Sky Blues eased their way past Cockermouth from the Cumberland County League at Gillford Park last night.

It finished 7-0 with Cockermouth putting up some spirited resistance before City took control.

Manager Dan Kirkup took the opportunity to field players who had been short of game time in the Northern League.

Kieran Blair put them ahead after just 10 minutes and the same player had a great chance to double the lead soon after but shot wide.

In the last five minutes of the half City increased their advantage with a header from Lewis Mitchinson and then a third goal by Alfie Buckmaster.

Two minutes into the second half Blair set up Jordan Palmer for the fourth goal.

Liam Lightfoot made it 5-0 before the goal of the game from Liam Graham.

Two minutes from the end an unfortunate own goal completed the scoring.

Workington Reds entertain Whitehaven tonight in their second round tie with the rest being played next month.
