In the run-up to Halloween and Bonfire Night, Carlisle traders are being asked not to sell eggs to teenagers.
Carlisle police said that a group of teens were reportedly throwing eggs at passing vehicles on Queensway in the city on Monday night.
Carlisle police said: “As part of Operation Roman Candle – the annual police response to the seasonal increase of youth-related anti-social behaviour around Halloween and Bonfire Night – we ask shops to withhold sales of eggs to teenagers in a bid to reduce the opportunity for them to be used in such a way.
“We ask that parents/guardians of young people also help us by making it difficult for eggs to be taken from home so they can’t be used in anti-social behaviour or criminality out in the community.”
