Cleator Moor Celtic continued their fine unbeaten run with an outstanding second-half performance at home to last season’s champions.
Tempest United were leading the West Lancashire League Premier Division clash at the Travis Perkins Ground 3-0 at the halfway stage.
But Celtic stormed back, showing great character and commitment to earn a 3-3 draw.
Ellis Trotter grabbed the third goal in the 90th minute to extend the Celtic run to 10 games.
Although Celtic had made a bright enough start a flurry of goals from George Scott (26) and Nathan Monson (34, 45) gave the champions a handy lead going into the break.
Callum Jackman started the Celtic fightback with the first goal on 54 minutes from a thundering strike into the top corner.
Dan Hill set-up an intriguing last 15 when he scored the second on 74 minutes.
Finally Trotter forced home the equalising goal in the 90th minute from a corner.
If the game had gone on for another five minutes Celtic would have fancied their chances of going on and winning it.
Whitehaven, struggling with managerial and player departures, went down 3-0 in the bottom of the table clash with Milnthorpe Corinthians.
It was Milnthorpe’s first League win of the season and came courtesy of a hat-trick from Johnny Voortman.
After a goalless first-half Voortman struck three times in six minutes – 55, 58 and 61 – to turn the game Milnthorpe’s way.
Millom’s game at CMB was one of three games to be called-off because of waterlogged pitches.
