A return to Latrigg Tops for the second time this season saw 55 hounds turn out for the four-race card.
Thirteen of them were entered in the seniors and once away Denise and Jenny Bland’s Huntsman’s Time was away well with Robyn, Ellie, Grace and Nicola Napier and Brooke Butler’s Foxparke Fairlady and Lee, Hayley, Joey and George Wall, Sandra Mordue and Ted Strorrow’s Denton Phantom.
Climbing up the fell Huntsman’s Time was leading from Denise and Jenny Bland and Ella and Kyle Gallacher’s Jenny’s Chance with a small gap to Robyn, Ellie, Grace and Nicola Napier and Brooke Butler’s pair of Foxparke Sidekick and Foxparke Beep Beep.
Back into view going through the fell and onto the second half of the course Huntsman’s Time was still leading from Foxparke Sidekick, Foxparke Beep Beep and Jenny’s Chance.
Back into view dropping down the fell and into the bottoms Foxparke Beep Beep was now leading and had a few lengths on Huntsman’s Time.
Climbing out of the bottoms and onto the finish Foxparke Beep Beep maintained that lead to beat kennelmates Huntsman’s Time and Jenny’s Chance.
Foxparke Fairlady finished ahead of Les and Graham Reid, Erin Rowlandson, Barbara Jones and Steven Walker’s Minnie and Foxparke Sidekick.
The Pups were the first of the shorter races with a line-up of 19 and once they were climbing the fell Ruth and Charlie Dixon’s Is It It, who is currently being trained by Denise and Jenny Bland, was leading from Geoff and Gillian Higgins’ and Jake and Zach Green’s pair of Acacia and Azalia.
Back into view dropping down the fell into the bottoms Acacia had gone ahead from Azalia and Ruth and Charlie Dixon’s What Is It.
Climbing out of the bottoms and onto the finish Acacia was still leading and went on to win from kennel and littermate Azalia with Is It It in third.
What Is It finished fourth followed in by Stephen Riley and Isla Hetherington’s Fable and Tony, Marlene, Connor and Carter Irving and Gary Woodend’s Bewley.
The Open Restricted were next to go with a line-up of 14 and once seen climbing up the fell Ellie and Grace Napier’s Brown Sugar was leading from Robyn, Ellie, Grace and Nicola Napier and Brooke Butler’s Sassy Girl with Anthony, Steph, Sophie, Katie and Alfie Steele’s Miterdale Rambler in close attendance.
Back into view, dropping down into the bottoms, Brown Sugar was still leading from Christine Brownlee’s Malia.
However Malia made a miss which allowed Brown Sugar to establish a lead but just as he was going out of sight he also ran off.
Climbing out of the bottoms and onto the finish Raymond and Glenis Farren and Denise Bland’s Miss Becky was leading and went on to win and lose her maiden status.
Stephen Riley and Isla Hetherington’s Ruby finished second with Malia in third. Foxparke Sassy Girl was fourth, followed in by Ruth and Charlie Dixon’s Let’s Go For It and Brown Sugar.
The final race was for the Veterans with nine taking part and once slipped and climbing up the fell Brian Graham and Eleanor Chisholm’s Eleanor’s Lass was leading from Colin Satterthwaite’s Thorn Pop.
Back into view dropping down the fell into the bottoms Tanya Satterthwaite’s Swamp Fox had taken over in front from Thorn Pop and Sophie Steele’s Miterdale Dusk. Climbing out of the bottoms and onto the finish Swamp Fox kept her to collect the win from Thorn Pop and Miterdale Dusk.
Denis Peare and Jackie Gill’s Miterdale Duchess finished fourth with Eleanor’s Lass and Anthony, Steph, Sophie, Katie and Alfie Steele’s Miterdale Honesty completing the ticketing hounds.
