
Penrith rugby union club has lost one of its respected officials.
Club stalwart Geoff Matthews has died, it has been announced.
For over 50 years, he served the Winters Park club.
Over his years with the club he served as director, chairman and president among other roles.
On social media, the club said: “There are simply no words that can do justice to the impact Geoff has had on our club.
“His dedication and unwavering commitment shaped every part of Penrith RUFC.
“Geoff wasn’t just involved in the club, he was the club. His passion, devotion and countless hours of service have left a legacy that will be felt for generations to come.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Pam and to all of Geoff’s family and friends.
“Geoff’s loss will be felt deeply across the entire Penrith RUFC community. His influence, kindness and friendship will never be forgotten.”
