Cumbrian campsites named among best in UK

Carrock Glamping Pods

A host of Cumbrian campsites have been named among the best in the UK.

The Camping and Glamping Awards, run by booking platform campsites.co.uk, highlights the best camping, glamping, and touring sites across the UK, celebrating those sites who go above and beyond for their guests throughout the year.

Carrock Glamping Pods, near Wigton, was named Best Glamping Site in the UK, Best Glamping Site in the North West and was also runner-up for Best Adult Only Site in the North West.

It has three en suite pods, with kitchen, topped with glorious views of Carrock Fell from a private veranda with hot tub.

The site has gained a 4.97 star rating on their travel listing, with 100% saying they would recommend the site.

Parkgate Farm Holidays in Holmrook, West Cumbria, won Best Small Campsite in the UK.

The family friendly site has nine grass pitches and glamping cabins.

Wallace Lane Farm in Wigton was runner-up in the Best Caravan Park category and was the winner of Best Caravan Park in the North West.

Set on a 23 acre farm, this site has a range of spacious pitches to choose from, including fully serviced pitches with private hot tubs and kitchens.

Martin Smith, the founder of Campsites.co.uk said “Our annual awards give us the opportunity to celebrate the UK’s best campsites, and this year’s standards feel higher than ever.

“Each of the winning sites stand out for the care they put into being consistently excellent.

Other Cumbrian sites recognised in the awards were:

  • Best Budget Friendly Campsite (National) Winner – Caldbeck Camping
  • Best Family Campsite (North West) Runner Up – Church Stile Farm and Holiday Park, Seascale,
  • Best Glamping Site (North West) Runner Up – Cragg Farm Camping Pods, Cockermouth 
  • Best Glamping Site (North West) Runner Up – Damson View Glamping, Lyth Valley
  • Best Caravan Park (North West) Runner Up – Little Acre Camping, Milnthorpe
  • Best Adult Only Site (North West) Winner – Little Acre Holiday Park, Milnthorpe,
  • Best Campsite (North West) Winner – Low Greenside Farm Campsite, Kirkby Stephen
  • Best Campsite (North West) Runner Up and Best Family Campsite (North West) Winner – Park Cliffe Camping and Caravan Estate, Windermere
  • Best Caravan Park (North West) Runner Up – Pennine View Park, Kirkby Stephen
  • Best Campsite (North West) Runner Up – Rydal Hall Campsite, Ambleside
  • Best Family Campsite (North West) Runner Up – Skelwith Fold Caravan Park
