A Cumbrian vet nurse has won a national award.
Rachel Hewson, of Belle Vue Veterinary Practice in Wigton, was named Vet Nurse of the Year at the 2025 Petplan Veterinary Awards.
Now in their 26th year, these awards were set up to recognise the nation’s most outstanding veterinary professionals – nominated by clients and colleagues for their hard work and dedication.
The prestigious award ceremony was held in London, hosted by comedian Josh Widdicombe.
Rachel said: “It feels absolutely amazing; to say it’s a dream come true is a lie because I never would have dreamt, I would have got to this point.
“The work we do every day is so important as we can give so much support, it’s not just the clinical side of things but the education is the supporting of the clients, and I think vet nurses can do that in abundance.”
