A Lake District walker had to be airlifted to safety after falling over 130ft.
Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team was initially called by the North West Ambulance Service to the incident, which happened on Sunday at around 1pm.
The walker has fallen down scree and rocks while descending from Dove Crag in the Hartsop Valley.
The mountain rescue team passed it over to their colleagues in the Patterdale team as it is in their area of operation.
A Coastguard helicopter was requested to help and Patterdale team members treated the casualty before they were winched on board the helicopter.
They were flown to Patterdale base where they were transferred to a land ambulance to be taken to hospital for further treatment.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team said: “Due to initial low numbers and the prospect of a prolonged and difficult extraction if the helicopter couldn’t get to scene a request was made for Penrith Mountain Rescue Team to assist us.
“The rescue lasted four-and-a-half hours, involving 13 Patterdale members and five Penrith members. Big thank you to both Penrith Mountain Rescue Team and Rescue 199 for their assistance on this rescue.”
