Bus timetables for Christmas and new year have been published by travel firm Stagecoach.

Revised services will operate across the region on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve, with full timetable information now available for Barrow, Carlisle and Penrith, Kendal and the Lakes, North Lancashire and West Cumbria.

As part of the festive travel offer, Stagecoach will once again run its New Year’s Day services on two of the Lake District’s most scenic routes.

The open-top 599 service between Bowness and Grasmere will operate a special timetable on January 1 and a special 555 service from Kendal to Keswick will also run.

Tom Waterhouse, Stagecoach Cumbria and Lancashire managing director, said: “Christmas is one of the busiest travel periods of the year, and we want to make it as easy as possible for customers to plan their journeys.

“Our festive timetables and New Year’s Day services are designed to keep people connected with family, friends and the places they love, right across Cumbria and Lancashire.”

People can view the full festive timetables for each area on the Stagecoach website and are encouraged to check services before travelling.
