The championship winning Maryport Under-15s celebrated their success at a club presentation night

Following on from a successful 2025 season across all age groups, Maryport RL club have announced their coaching structure for next year.

Mark Foster will again oversee the Open Age set-up, assisted by Brett Smith, Sam Forrester, Dan Rooney and Scott Akehurst, who will lead the A team.

The first team have entered the new Cumbria Conference as CARLA champions as part of the RFL’s restructure of the community game, while the A team will play in a yet to be finalised Cumbria Men’s League set-up.

The youth section has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, with 12 of last season’s NWC league winning Under-16s side joining the Open Age set-up for this coming season.

The Under-15s were also successful in their NWC campaign, winning a league and cup double and will again be led by John Fidler as they move up to the Under-16s age group.

The Under-13s and Under-14s will be back to a combined league structure this season, with Craig Ivison as coach.

The Under-12s will be coached by Scott Burns and Ryan Mayne as they transition from the modified form of the game to full rules.

Ben Carter will lead the coaching team of the Under-11s side with Simon Pattinson in charge of the Under-9s; Dan Rooney and Mark Lister the Under-8s; Patrick Vaughan the Under-7s and Michael McMullen the Under-6s.

The Mini Marras will be led by Steve Newton-Lister and Dale Dickinson as they begin their introduction to the game of rugby league.

The club is always on the look-out for new players at any of these age groups, regardless of ability or experience.

Anyone interested in seeing their child join the Maryport set-up should contact the club on social media or on 01900 815506.

The club is also looking to recruit volunteers.
