
A section of the M6 northbound will close overnight tonight.
National Highways said the road between Junction 39 at Shap to Junction 40 at Penrith wold be closed between 10pm today, Tuesday December 16 until 6am tomorrow, Wednesday December 17.
It is closed so workers can complete preparations ahead of Network Rail’s replacement of the Clifton Bridge.
Traffic will be diverted via the A6.
Drivers are urged to check before they travel and allow extra time for their journey.
National Highways said an additional southbound closure will also be required and it would share details as soon as they were confirmed.
