A Cumbrian accountancy firm has donated £5,000 to two charities.

Staff at Dodd & Co nominated Brainstrust and Dragonfly Cancer Trust as their Christmas charities.

Brainstrust provides personalised support and builds resources that help people with brain tumours and their loved ones live the life they want after diagnosis.

It works closely with clinicians to ensure people receive the best possible care and campaign to solve real issues, as they understand the challenges faced by those living with brain tumours.

Dragonfly Cancer Trust, based in the North East, supports children and young people facing life-threatening cancer diagnoses.

It works with specialist cancer treatment centres, hospitals, hospices and families across the UK providing support for young patients with terminal
cancer receiving palliative treatment.

Its focus is on memory-making, helping young patients to make each moment with their loved ones count.

Dodd & Co said the charities were meaningful to two members of its team.

Jo Batey, accounts senior, was diagnosed with a brain tumour late last year and is now in recovery following her surgery.

Brainstrust supported Jo throughout her journey with advice and forums, helping her understand her situation and feel less alone.

Becky Connelly, also an accounts senior, nominated the Dragonfly Cancer Trust after losing one of her best friends this year.

Since her friend’s initial diagnosis, the charity supported her friend and family throughout their journey, making every moment matter.

Both Jo and Becky nominated these charities as a way of giving back.

Alongside these charities, Dodd & Co have also donated to Penrith and Carlisle Food Banks, CFM Cash for Kids, Carlisle Youth Zone and the Cumbria Community Foundation Winter Warmth Appeal.

Altogether, Dodd & Co have donated £5000 this Christmas to help the incredible organisations continue their vital work.

Joanne Thomlinson, Partner at Dodd & Co, said: “Supporting charities that mean so much to our team is something we’re incredibly proud of.

“Every suggestion represented a truly worthy cause. We’re thrilled to help make a difference.

“These organisations provide essential support during life’s toughest moments, and we hope our contributions help them continue their exceptional work.”
