Are you looking for a new opportunity? The 12th Carlisle Skills Fair may well have the answer!
Carlisle Skills Fair is taking place on Thursday January 22, from 2pm to 6.30pm, at Carlisle College.
After the success of the 11th anniversary skills fair last year, the next event is shaping up to be bigger and even better, said organiser John Stevenson, the city’s former MP.
Mr Stevenson said: “As we look forward to the 12th annual Carlisle Skills Fair, skills matter even more in 2026 as the jobs market, technology and employer expectations shift faster than ever.
“In a modern, more complicated and technical world all kinds of skills are required and are now a necessity for more and more businesses.
“Job seekers who build skills, especially digital, analytical and interpersonal stay competitive and adaptable.

“That is why I have remained committed to organising and hosting the Carlisle Skills Fair after 11 years of doing so.
“I believe I can still play a part in supporting local businesses and the Cumbria economy, and the next generation of employees.
“The response to the 12th Carlisle Skills Fair has been fantastic. The event really has become a widely recognised and significant tradition and one that I am proud of.
“The sponsors and training providers have all got behind it as have over 80 local and national businesses.
“As I have always maintained Cumbria is a great place to live and work in.
“However success is not a given.

“In 2026, skills are the currency of the modern workforce. They help job seekers stand out, stay employable and move forward.
“For employers, they help build stronger, more productive and future ready organisations.
“Ensuring people have the right skills for the future and businesses have the required skilled staff, is therefore critical to a prosperous and successful future.
“If the Carlisle Skills Fair can in some way hep to align both these needs, then that must be a positive.
“Skills matter more than ever in 2026.”
