Kilvington Solicitors, well known for providing an efficient and friendly service to their clients throughout the Eden Valley and beyond, has expanded its legal services to include matters of a contentious nature.

This development is a natural progression for the Kirkby Stephen based firm, enabling it to offer a wider range of legal assistance to its clients, supporting them not only with non-contentious legal work but also when disputes arise.

The dispute resolution department deals with a wide range of contentious matters, including those involving contracts, construction, partnerships, land and property, neighbour disputes and professional negligence.

The department has two fee earners, Grace Wren and Bernadette Jackson, who have a wealth of experience in handling all types of civil cases.

Grace Wren first came to Kilvington Solicitors as a student over 10 years ago and after gaining a distinction in her Legal Practice Course went to work for a large firm in Carlisle.

She is now in her fifth year of practising and has experience in dealing with a variety of disputes from debt claims to landlord and tenant matters but has particular expertise in contentious probate (concerning wills and estate administration) and trust related issues. Grace also deals with divorce and family matters.

Bernadette Jackson has worked as a litigator since 2005.

She is dual qualified, qualifying as a barrister in 2003 with one of the highest pass marks before then completing her dual qualification as a solicitor in 2008, passing with Grade A.

Her areas of expertise and experience have particularly focused on commercial, construction, consumer rights in relation to both sale of goods and services, professional negligence, debt recovery and land and neighbour disputes.

Managing director Litini Newcombe said: “We are excited to have broadened the scope of our services.

“Our goal has always been to meet the needs of our clients and whilst no one wants to be involved in a dispute, unfortunately we have seen a significant rise in the demand for legal support in this area and therefore feel it is something we should provide so that clients do not have to go further afield for assistance.”
