Emergency services are dealing with an incident on the A6 this afternoon and the road is closed.
Cumbria Constabulary and the North West Ambulance Service were called to the incident, just south of Hackthorpe, near Penrith, at around 12.05pm.
The force said the road may be closed for some time while investigations were completed.
Drivers are asked to use alternative routes, either M6 or A66/A685.
