A Carlisle-based outdoor enthusiast has been appointed as an ambassador for Cumbria Scouts to help inspire young people, champion adventure and encourage more adults to volunteer across the county.
Luke Jackson has joined the Cumbria Scouts Ambassador network with a strong personal connection to Scouting, as a parent of a young person in Beaver Scouts.
As an ambassador, Luke will help promote outdoor opportunities for young people in Cumbria, inspire participation, and advocate for volunteering so that more children and young people can benefit from Scouting experiences.
Cumbria Scouts hopes Luke’s appointment will shine a light on the positive impact Scouting has in local communities and encourage more adults to step forward as volunteers, helping groups grow and reach more young people.
Luke said: “Scouting gives young people the chance to try new things, build confidence and spend time outdoors in a really positive way.
“As a parent, I’ve seen first-hand how valuable those experiences can be. I’m proud to support Cumbria Scouts as an Ambassador and help encourage more people to get involved, whether that’s young people joining or adults volunteering their time.”
Eddie Ward, Cumbria Scouts lead volunteer, added: “We are very pleased to welcome Luke as an ambassador and look forward to sharing some of our adventures with him. We really appreciate his support in advocating for Scouting and helping us inspire more young people and volunteers across Cumbria.”
