Ennerdale Bridge is closed for maintenance work by Cumberland Council.
Teams began work today, Monday February 16, to remove saplings and vegetation on and around the bridge.
The authority said it was essential to prevent structural damage, maintain clear visibility, and ensure the long‑term safety and durability of the bridge.
The work will continue tomorrow, Tuesday February 17 and work will take place from 9am to 3pm.
A road closure will be in place, with a signed diversion route for all traffic.
Access has been maintained for emergency services, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists and traffic marshals are on site to help residents throughout the work.
