A road in Sebergham will be closed for around seven days from Monday so embankment repairs can be carried out.
Bell Lonning was closed after being severely damaged during Storm Desmond, and further erosion took place in January last year.
Temporary stabilisation work was carried out in May 2024 and phase one of permanent repairs to the road were completed last summer.
From Monday, February 23, workers will be on site to carry out willow spilling, a traditional technique for stabilising riverbanks and preventing erosion.
Willow spiling uses freshly cut, living willow stakes and rods woven together to create a strong, flexible barrier that reinforces the riverbank.
As the willow takes root, it forms a highly effective, long‑term and sustainable defence against erosion.
A road closure will be in place from 8am to 5pm each day.
Cumberland Council said signs have been installed to notify road users of the temporary restrictions.
Access for pedestrians, cyclists, and emergency services will be maintained during the work.
