A cattle trailer and quad bikes have been stolen overnight from a farm in Cumbria.
South Lakes police said it had been reported that the burglary took place in the Cowgill area, near Sedbergh.
Officers added: “After some great work from our colleagues in North Yorkshire and Durham the stolen vehicles were located abandoned.
“The vehicle used to tow the items was also recovered which turns out to also have been stolen overnight from a farm in Sedbergh. Work is ongoing to identify the offenders.
“Fortunately for these farmers all of their stolen equipment will now be returned to them.”
South Lakes Police urged people with farm machinery and vehicles to consider using a tracking device, speak local officers about SelectaDNA marking and make sure that keys are removed from vehicles and where possible items are secured and hidden.
South Lakes Police added: “If you see something that isn’t right or out of place for your area, please let us know, no matter how small, it might just be the missing puzzle piece.”
