TEGRetail has announced it is pausing its monthly markets in Whitehaven.
It said the pause would allow it to strengthen links with the town’s wider community events.
However, it added that it hoped to restart the markets in the future.
Following a recent review, the organisation said it would continue its monthly market in Maryport, as trader demand and visitor engagement remained consistently strong.
The organisation is also preparing to open Flax Community Cafe at the former Kangol factory site in Cleator Moor.
The new venue will operate as a welcoming social and enterprise hub, combining hospitality, co-working space, pop-up retail, workshops and community-led events.
TEGRetail director Abi Greaves said: “As a Community Interest Company, we must ensure the right foundations are in place for all our existing traders to our markets and new ones to succeed.
“There are still markets planned collaboratively inWhitehaven and opportunities for traders in the near future through our Flax Community Café.”
