Police are investigating an attempted robbery where a man has attempted to take a bag from the back of another man on a West Cumbrian footpath.

The incident happened at around 5.15am on February 11on The Line in Workington.

The victim was walking in the section of The Line nearest to the right of Honister Drive, parallel to Infirmary Road and Whinlatter Gardens.

A man approached the victim, who is in his 30s, from behind and grabbed the bag on his back, attempting to remove it.

When the victim turned around the man repeatedly told him to hand over his bag.

When the victim refused, the man left in the direction he came from, back towards Honister Drive.

The man is described as mid to late 20s, taller than 5ft 8ins and of an average build.

He wore black trainers, black joggers or jeans and a black top – possibly a hoodie with the hood up – and black gloves.

Police are asking people in the area to check their CCTV and doorbell footage and for witnesses to come forward.
