A Lake District hotel has been named among the 50 best places to stay in the UK.

Langdale Chase, part of the Thwaites group, is the only Cumbrian venue to feature in the prestigious Sunday Times list.

The annual list celebrates the most outstanding hotels across the UK, chosen by the publication’s experienced travel writers after visiting hundreds of properties across the country.

Langdale Chase, on the banks of Windermere, gained a score of nine out 10.

The 30-bedroom Grade II-listed hotel reopened after a multi-million-pound restoration in December 2023.

Rick Bailey, executive chairman of Thwaites, said: “To see Langdale Chase recognised in The Sunday Times 50 Best Places to Stay in the UK for 2026 is fantastic, both for the incredible team and for the Lake District.

“The hotel has such a special sense of place, from its setting on the shores of Windermere to its beautifully restored Victorian character, and it’s been wonderful to see guests fall in love with it since reopening.

“We’re incredibly proud it has been recognised among the very best places to stay in the country for the third year running.”
