Work to improve a pedestrian crossing will start in Wigton next week.
Cumberland Council is making changes to the crossing on King Street in the town and work is due to start on Monday, March 23.
It is expected to take five days, subject to weather and site conditions.
Work will take place between 8am and 4pm each day.
A full road closure will be in place for the duration of the scheme and there will be a signed diversion route.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times, although short delays may occur when vehicles and plant are being moved, the council said.
Cumberland Council said it recognised the importance of supporting local businesses, and the loading bay on King Street would remain clear and available at all times to allow for deliveries.
Bus operators Stagecoach and Reays will provide updated information on affected stops and routes through Wigton closer to the start date, it added.
- Cumberland Council said earlier today it was installing a new pedestrian crossing on King Street but issued a clarification this afternoon to say a new crossing was not being installed, the work is to make repairs and improvements to the existing one.
