Billy Barr will continue his fight to save Workington Reds from relegation with no additions to his squad.
Last night’s signing deadline for the NPL passed without Barr being able to recruit new faces, despite several efforts.
“We weren’t able to bring in anyone extra so we will finish the season with the lads we have got and back them to do the job.
“We had a very good session last night when we concentrated on retaining possession and I hope we can see that out there tomorrow,” said Barr.
Reds entertain promotion-chasing Hednesford and as it’s non-league day the club is hoping for a bumper attendance, continuing the excellent trend in crowds this season despite the club’s low League position.
The bonus for Reds is that Dav Symington put in 62 minutes against Kirkoswald on Tuesday night, the most he’s managed in a surprise comeback which has seen him limited to a few minutes.
Having Symington in the squad, and able to play a bigger part, will be like having a new signing for Barr as he’s largely been absent during his reign so far.
In the Northern League Kendal Town can sit-out tomorrow’s fixtures and reflect on two damaging defeats against Whitley Bay and Newcastle Blue Star.
They should have played the ill-fated West Allotment Celtic who had to resign from the league.
Two successive defeats have put their top five play-off place under serious threat as they now sit sixth and the teams ahead of them have games in hand.
After Tuesday’s 4-1 home win over Kendal, Blue Star are set to entertain Penrith tomorrow.
Like Kendal, Penrith have three games left and look as though they may just fall short of their targeted top half finish.
Manager Jim Nichols has Robbie Hebson away attending a wedding but goalkeeper Lewis Boyd is back in the squad.
Carlisle City suffered badly with the demise of West Allotment Celtic as they lost the full six points. It drops them to 14th but has made manager Dan Kirkup even more determined to finish the season on a high.
They host Crook Town tomorrow and have Jay Kelly and Aran Fitzpatrick out through injury while Lewis Mitchenson is away.
In the West Lancashire League there’s a big game at Cleator Moor where Celtic entertain leaders and champions elect Eagley.
The visitors are eight points clear and have only lost two games in 24 so will be a strong test for Celtic.
It’s one manager Gareth Agnew is looking forward to and has a strong squad of 16 available with a couple, of promising Under-18s being promoted after their team won the age-group league last week.
Whitehaven are at home to Rossendale and manager Brian Dawson will have Arran Carter in goal for the first time since he took over in the new year.
Owen Johnston is also set to play in a squad which is otherwise similar to last week.
There’s a Cumbrian derby in the other game in which Millom entertain Milnthorpe Corinthians.
Milnthorpe are still involved in the President’s Cup and if they beat Pause United at home will travel to a neutral Coppull United to take on Poulton on Tuesday, April 14. But first things first, and that’s a trip to Millom.
In the Wearside League Windscale travel to Annfield Plain intent on producing a reaction after a poor show in mid-week when they lost 3-0 at home to Barnard Castle.
But it won’t be easy as their hosts are fighting hard to avoid relegation and the Atoms have several players unavailable.
Ray Sempill, Andrew Begbie, Kieran Lawson and Ryan Fitzwilliam are away; Matty Pierce, Aiden Kegg and Will Rooke are injured while Joe Atkinson is working.
Windscale will take 14 players, utilising the first team squad without the need to dip into the reserves.
