Restrictions for a Lake District town blighted by poor parking are set to be introduced.
Parking has caused an issue for Keswick’s back streets for several years.
Work will begin on Wednesday, April 1, to introduce double yellow lines – which mean no waiting at any time – on several streets in the town.
The work is expected to take up to two days – although it is weather dependent – and follow a previous programme in December that had to be postponed due to extreme wet weather, Cumberland Council said.
There will be a temporary suspension of parking along sections of the affected street junctions during the installation period.
Residents and road users are asked to make sure the sections are kept clear of parked vehicles from the evening of Tuesday March 31, to allow the workforce to begin work on site on Wednesday April 1.
In most cases, the restrictions will extend between two and four metres on either side of each junction.
The junctions are:
- Acorn Street
- Blencathra Street
- Church Street
- Eskin Street
- George Street
- Greta Street
- Helvellyn Street
- Leonard Street
- Myers Street
- Ratcliffe Place
- Southey Street
- St Herbert Street
- Wordsworth Street
