A Cumbrian endurance athlete is set to take on two of the world’s toughest challenges in three weeks to raise money for Dementia UK.
Danny Judd, who works at Burlington Stone in Kirkby-in-Furness, will attempt the Bob Graham Round in the Lake District in June before travelling to France to compete in the Mega Avalanche mountain bike race on July 11.
He and two others are taking on this challenge after a close friend was diagnosed with dementia at a young age.
He said: “To see someone you care about facing this disease so early in life is saddening. I wanted to push myself and raise as much as I can to support families going through it.”
The Bob Graham Round covers 66 miles over 42 peaks with 27,000ft of climbing and must be completed within 24 hours.
Just weeks later, Danny will race the Mega Avalanche in Alpe d’Huez, a mass-start downhill event that begins on a glacier at 3,300 metres.
Danny previously raised more than £3,000 for charity and hopes to beat that total this year.
