A Carlisle man has appeared in court accused of involvement in a prison-based plot to supply cocaine over two-and-a-half years.
Aaron Giacopazzi, 39, faces two charges.
One alleges that Giacopazzi conspired with others to supply cocaine at HMP Northumberland between October 1 2023 and April 24 2026.
A second charge alleges the illegal possession by Giacopazzi of a mobile phone between October 1 2023 and September 9 the following year, also at HMP Northumberland, near the coastal town of Amble.
No pleas to the two charges were formally entered by Giacopazzi when he appeared in front of magistrates at Carlisle’s Rickergate court.
His case was sent to the city’s crown court. Giacopazzi, whose address was given as St Elizabeths Close, Harraby, Carlisle, is due to appear at the crown court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on Friday May 29.
Giacopazzi was remanded in custody by magistrates until the date of that next hearing.
