
A drop-in event will take place in Hawkshead next week about United Utilities plans for a new project in the area to help improve the quality of water in Windermere.
The firm is set to submit planning applications for Hawkshead’s pumping station and wastewater treatment works.
if approved, both sites would be extended to allow for the work to be completed. At the pumping station a new 29 metre diameter storage tank would be built below ground, holding around 3000m3.
At the wastewater treatment works new technology would be installed to improve the quality of the treated wastewater that is returned to the environment.
People are being encouraged to find out more at a drop-in event on Wednesday May 6 at Hawkshead Village Hall, between 4pm and 7pm.
