A West Cumbrian man has been jailed for robbery.
Ryan Langcake, 35, of Northside, Workington, was sentenced to four years for robbery of a convenience store.
Carlisle Crown Court heard how in the late hours of November 1 2025 police received a report of robbery involving an offensive weapon in the Station Road area of the town.
CCTV showed that Langcake jumped over the counter of the store, pushed the till onto the floor and continued to hit the till with a hammer in attempt to open it.
Langcake then continued to jump back over the counter and retrieve a tub of money with between £200 and £300-worth of cash.
CCTV footage then captured Langcake exiting the store and changing his clothing behind a wall before entering a takeaway.
After sentencing, Detective Sergeant Peter Schofield, said: “Robbery is a serious offence and will not be tolerated in Cumbria.
“This individual made deliberate efforts to avoid being identified, but our officers were able to track his movements and secure the evidence needed to bring them before the courts.
“I would like to thank the witnesses who came forward, as well as the officers involved, whose work has resulted in this offender being brought to justice.”
