CADAS has been named as the charity of the year for the Carlisle Half Marathon and 10k.
A spokesman said it was thrilled to be chosen.
Established in 1979, Cumbria Addictions: Advice and Solutions has supported people living in Cumbria and their families with their mental health, addictions and substance dependency for over 40 years.
It said: “We provide targeted early intervention programmes that reach the most troubled and vulnerable children, young people, adults and families in our communities.
“We are a Lived Experience Recovery Organisation. 70% of our trustees and staff have been affected by their own or someone else’s harmful addictions and are community members.
“Our uniqueness lies in how we connect with the Cumbrian community, holding people at the heart of everything we do.”
The event takes place on July 19. For more information about how to help CADAS, email [email protected]
