A walker undertaking part of the Coast to Coast path had to be taken to hospital after drinking from a stream.
Penrith Mountain Rescue Team said they were called out to Whelter Beck at Haweswater at around 4.25pm on Friday.
A passer-by came across another walker, drunk water from a stream which had caused vomiting, which combined with the heat to result in exhaustion and being unable to continue.
The walker called for help.
Penrith Mountain Rescue Team said: “Due to the serious nature of the casualty’s condition, with the potential for heat exhaustion or stroke, a request for a Coastguard helicopter was made at the same time as the team deployed.
“Local team members going direct arrived on scene while Team vehicles were traveling to Mardale Head.
“Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 897 from Carlisle Lake District Airport reached the scene and after a brief assessment flew the casualty to Mardale Head.
“At Mardale Head a further assesment by a Coastguard paramedic and a team doctor was undertaken.
“Team members continued to monitor the casualty until an ambulance arrived to transfer them to hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
The previous day, Thursday June 25, the team was called out to Motherby at around 4.50pm by the North West Ambulance Service.
They were asked to help with the transport of a walker who had fallen and was suffering from the heat.
Penrith Mountain Rescue Team said: “A 200m carry was required. While some team members were collecting vehicles and equipment from our base, team members close to the incident site were able to transport the casualty on an ambulance scoop stretcher across the field to the ambulance.
“The ambulance then transported the casualty to hospital for further assessment.”
