
Cumbria’s crucial County Championship clash with Northumberland at Penrith this afternoon isn’t the only big game being played today.
The final of the County Shield Cup is being staged at Wigton where St Benedict’s will take on Keswick 2nds.
Benny’s will start favourites having finished sixth in the Counties 1 Cumbria table with 11 wins from their 19 games, while Keswick 2nds were 12th with only three wins.
The kick-off at Lowmoor Road is 3pm and Dan Shovelton will be the man in charge, with touch judge support from Mike Firby and Alistair Jones.
The Bill Beaumont County Championship game at Winters Park, Penrith also kicks off at 3pm and Durham Society referee Alistair Sweetin will take the game.
Martin Maughan and Simon Barker are his men on the lines and Alasdair Boyle is the fourth official.
The Gill Burns Women’s County Championship game on Sunday at Wigton between Cumbria and Oxfordshire will be refereed by Simon Barker and on the lines are Stephen Elliot and Stewart Mounsey with Alasdair Boyle as the fourth official. Kick-off 1pm.
Also on Sunday Cumbria meet Durham in an Under-17s county game at Keswick with Martin Maughan taking the whistle. Alistair Jones and Joseph Ranford are on the lines. Kick-off 3pm.
