An arrest has been made after reports of a youth with an axe making threats in Sedbergh.
South Lakes Police said they were called after a youth threatened the person who had challenged them.
Officers have arrested a youth on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.
A dispersal order was also issued for the town in response to a small number of people causing concern in the town.
South Lakes Police added: “The individuals have been moved. Police will continue to take positive action throughout the police operation for Appleby Horse Fair.”
