A pile of rubbish has been dumped on Hartside Pass.
Eden police said it appeared to be a garage clearance, with tyres, car parts and a battery among the items fly-tipped near Melmerby.
Officers said if anyone had any information about who may be responsible or recognised any of the items, to call them on 101.
