
A man in his 40s has died following a collision on the A66.
Emergency services were called at around 1.20am on Saturday June 6 to the incident near Thornthwaite.
The collision involved two vehicles, a Ford and a Dacia.
A man in his 40s, who was the driver in the Dacia, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle, a man, was taken to hospital with injuries that were described as not life-threatening or changing.
The road was closed between the A5086 near Cockermouth and the A591 near Keswick for several hours.
Police are investigating the collision and are appealing for any witnesses – or anyone who saw anything relevant – to contact them on 101, referring to incident 23 of June 6.
