Priscilla Queen of the Desert is due to arrive in West Cumbria this week – and don’t miss your chance to climb aboard the bus and join Maryport AODS for this glittering theatrical adventure.

Maryport AODS is bringing the musical to the stage at Workington’s Carnegie Theatre from Wednesday, June 10 until Saturday June 13.

The group said: “Packed with dazzling costumes, outrageous comedy, unforgettable characters, and a soundtrack full of iconic hits, Priscilla Queen of the Desert promises to be a vibrant celebration of music, friendship, and self-expression.”

It is based on the beloved film and hit West End musical, the story follows Tick, Bernadette, and Adam as they travel across Australia aboard their colourful bus, Priscilla.

The group added: “Audiences can expect an energetic production filled with well-known disco and pop anthems including It’s Raining Men, I Will Survive, Hot Stuff, and many more.

“Behind the sparkle and sequins, however, the show also carries an important message about acceptance, identity, and the importance of being unapologetically yourself.”

Maryport AODS said members had been working hard behind the scenes for months to bring the production to life – and from the talented cast and dedicated production team to the incredible costumes and staging, it will be one of its most colourful and ambitious productions yet.

It added: “The show’s themes of inclusivity, resilience, and pride continue to resonate strongly with audiences today, making it a production that is not only entertaining but genuinely uplifting.”
