Barrow AFC will host Blackpool next month to commemorate the club’s first ever competitive fixture against The Seasiders in September 1901.
The Bluebirds will sport the brand new 2026/27 anniversary home shirt at the match on July 25.
It is a black and white striped kit akin to the first ever home kit donned in 1901 for the fixture against Blackpool at The Strawberry Ground.
The penultimate pre-season game, which kicks off at 3pm at Holker Street, has been designated as the club’s official 125th year anniversary celebration.
Former Bluebirds boss and promotion hero Ian Evatt will return to Holker Street with the Tangerines for the clubs’ first meeting in Barrow since 2023.
There will be a whole host of festivities, activities and events taking place throughout the weekend, with exact further details to be communicated to supporters closer to the date.
Meanwhile as part of the celebrations, supporters are invited to attend a special open training session at Holker Street on Friday July 24 beginning at 1pm.
Entry is free and all supporters are welcome, with the event taking place during the first week of the summer holidays for local schools.
It’s seen as the perfect opportunity to bring the kids along, meet new first team manager Adam Murray and the new Barrow squad, while watching the players train.
On the Friday evening the club will host its annual sponsors’ event.
The entire first-team squad and staff will be in attendance.
